Visceral Fat to Muscle Mass Ratio: A NEW Brain Longevity Predictor
It’s kinda amazing to think that two tissue types, biological miles away (figuratively speaking), could have a significant and lasting impact on our most important organ. Yes, that one which sits behind the highly-touted, strong, selective, impenetrable wall of the blood-brain-barrier. However, that in-fact, seems to be the case.
These two metabolically active tissues I speak of are Visceral Fat & Skeletal Muscle, and truth be told, they couldn’t be more different from each-other in regards to their brain modulating ways. One being associated with enhanced neuronal function, while the other linked to its slow and steady demise (I’ll let you guess which is which).
Ultimately making “Visceral Fat-to-Muscle Mass” a rather interesting ratio to watch. Becoming even more interesting after this New Research out of Washington University took note of its potential in predicting how fast (or slow) our brains age.
