You can’t scroll too long in the Longevity sphere without coming across one of the new darlings of health optimization, heat exposure. Or at least what it is most commonly marketed with, saunas.
And unlike most health trends, this practice does in-fact have some long-term and robust research to backup its vitality boosting claims. As the science has uncovered that its main mechanisms of action happen to be quite similar to the ones of its often more strenuous cousin, exercise.
However, as with all good health interventions, sub-debates into what makes them better or worse often take center stage, and that is exactly what’s happening when it comes to the ideal modality of getting hot. A question that a research team out of the University of Oregon sought to answer regarding cardiovascular and immune function. And all I have to say is, I was not expecting what they found….
