It’s often thought that our genes and unique genetic variants are our destiny. Determining everything from how we feel, what diseases we develop, and ultimately how long we live.
But… I’m here to tell you, that notion is more than likely WRONG. And it’s wrong due to the fact that the most influential modulator of our genes, and ultimately our daily/long-term cellular and metabolic state… is the lifestyle that we live. Which, if you haven’t put two-and-two together, THAT is very-much in our control.
Now, I want to make something very clear, this does NOT mean that genes and more specifically certain variants which pre-dispose us to particular conditions, do not matter. They do, but that doesn’t mean we can’t overcome them by consistently up-regulating the expression of health promoting genes. Which, is exactly what living a healthy lifestyle does!
A phenomena that was once again displayed when it comes to one of the scariest diseases on the planet, Alzheimer’s, and the gene variant that 4x’s ones risk of developing it, APOE4.
