How Your Gut Microbiome Modulates Cardiovascular Aging | A New “Cellular Senescence” Connection
The reason the trillions of microorganisms isolated in your gut are so important is not why you may think. Yes, they have a key impact on the health and function of the gut itself, but the true magic lays in the molecules they produce.
Molecules which can traverse the selectively permeable gut wall, and enter the hottest biological club in town, club circulation, to dance the night away throughout the body. Having a cellular modulating impact on basically every organ system we have, including the VIP section of the Brain.
THIS is where the true magic lays, with the catch being, this magic could be potion-like, enhancing cellular efficiency, OR…. Nefarious, driving dysfunction and inflammation. It all comes down to what exact communities of gut dwellers you’ve cultivated and how you’re feeding them.
And I can think of no better example of this than the one displayed in this new study out of the University of Zurich, showing how these gut-derived metabolites can even effect how fast we age!
